Résumé
Josie James (au chant et à la guitare), Valérie Smith (au tambourin) et Mélodie Jones (à la batterie) sont les 3 jeunes tigresses qui forment le groupe appelé "les Pussycats". Accompagnées d’Alan (amoureux de Josie), le groupe devra faire face à la méchanceté et à la jalousie du trio : Alexandra (qui n’a pour ambition que de prendre la place de Josie, pour être à la fois la vedette et garder Alan plus près d’elle), Alexander (frère d’Alexandra, il est également le producteur du groupe) et Sébastian (le chat, qui prendra plaisir à voir tous les plans d’Alexandra tomber à l’eau...)
Mondialement connues et voyageant de pays en pays, les Pussycats feront preuves de talents musicaux lors de chacun de leur concert mais également d’ingéniosité pour déjouer tous les pièges que leur tendra Alexandra, et bien d’autres bandits tels que Capitaine Némo, Midas...

Produit par Hanna Barbera au début des années 70, "Josie et les Pussycats" est à la base l’une des plus populaire BD, de la série des comics Archie, qui a vu le jour au début des années 60 par Dan Decarlo...
Série de 32 épisodes, la première saison de 16 épisodes fût rapidement suivie par une seconde intitulé "Josie et les Pussycats dans le cosmos", où nos chanteuses feront des voyages dans l’espace.
Bien que la trame de l’histoire et les personnages restent assez proches de manière générale au comics, on notera cependant une différence des noms de famille, et Sebastian dans les comics est en fait la réincarnation de l’oncle d’Alexandra.
Certaines similitudes sont également à noter entre "Josie et les Pussycats" et "Scoubidou", où Mélodie n’est autre que la soeur de Fred (on le verra d’ailleurs apparaître dans certains épisodes), dans l’épisode « the haunted showboat » la bande de Scoubi rencontrera également les Pussycats et au niveau graphique Alexander ressemble assez à Sammy...
"Josie et les Pussycats" a connu un assez grand succès tant au niveau des comics que de l’adaptation dessin animé au USA, si bien que de très nombreux produits dérivés ont vu le jour : puzzle, tee shirt, verre, costumes... ainsi que de superbes bandes originales en éditions limitées !
