Résumé
L'orchestre (violon, violoncelle et piano) d'un grand hôtel joue admirablement des airs romantiques et inspirent aux clients les plus tendres pensées, mais un incendie se déclare et l'orchestre continue à jouer. Confondus avec des gravats, ils sont emmenés dans une décharge, mais l'orchestre continue à jouer. Emportés sur un bateau, l'orchestre continue à jouer. Le bateau coule, mais l'orchestre continue à jouer. Etc. Toutes les situations des films catastrophes ou d'aventures se succèdent, mais l'orchestre imperturbable continue à jouer.
Commentaire
Troisième épisode (dans l'ordre de production) des Contes d'Hoffnung, il s'inspire comme les 6 autres courts-métrages des recueils de dessins humoristiques et caustiques du dessinateur, caricaturiste et musicien allemand Gerard Hoffnung (1925 - 1959) sur le monde de la musique et des orchestres.
Cette petite aventure de 7 minutes, muette et rythmée par la musique, a été diffusée en 1983 et 1984 dans Récré A2, où elle n'était annoncé que le titre de l'épisode comme si chacun était indépendant ; c'est pour refléter cette particularité de la diffusion française que nous choisissons de consacrer une fiche à chacun des 7 courts métrages. Par ailleurs, les dessins d'Hoffnung, ici animés en 1965 par le studio britannique Halas et Batchelor, méritent amplement d'être ainsi exposés au travers de 7 fiches.
Contrairement aux trois autre contes ayant déjà une fiche ici, L'orchestre de chambre ne contient qu'un seul et unique morceau de musique, ce qui est bien normal pour un orchestre qui ne s'arrête jamais. On notera la volonté de montrer l'universalité de la musique, cet air donnant des pensées similaires à des personnes fortunées ou pauvres, de toute nationalité et de toute nature (qu'on soit humain, serpent à sonnette ou baleine).
